RCSD 2020 ELECTIONS AND CANDIDATE FILING INFO
Rossmoor Community Services District will have four (4) open seats in the November 2020 Election. The term of office for individual Directors is four (4) years. Directors are elected in November of even-numbered years. In preparation for candidate filing under COVID-19 restrictions, the Orange County Registrar of Voters would like to inform you of the options that will be available for candidates during this filing period. Candidate filing begins on Monday, July 13, 2020 at 8:00 am and concludes on August 7, 2020 at 5:00 pm.
The Registrar of Voters is encouraging all candidates to make this a contactless candidate filing experience for the safety of the candidate and the Registrar of Voters’ staff.
The Registrar of Voters is putting in place measures to ensure our customers are provided with the highest level of customer service while limiting exposure for our employees. To reduce in-person contact, we ask that you take advantage of our candidate filing portal.
The Orange County Registrar of Voters innovated this system as a first-of-its kind in California in 2010 and can now leverage it during COVID-19. Candidates can download, print and complete all forms (including the Declaration of Candidacy) in the comfort of their own homes. They have the option of taking the Oath of Office via a notary service or by using Zoom, a video conferencing service, with one of our staff members. Another option available to candidates is to receive their documents via email or regular mail. If you prefer to file in-person, we ask that you make an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome, however be prepared to wait.
Candidates can make an appointment online during business hours at ocvote.com/appointments (coming soon). Completed documents with original signatures MUST be received by our office by the close of the nomination period, 5:00 p.m., August 7, 2020 in order for the candidate to be qualified for the ballot. For convenience, there will be a secure drop box located in the courtyard outside of the Registrar of Voters’ office for candidates to drop off their completed nomination forms.
