Coyote Sightings

How to Report Coyote Sightings in Rossmoor

The community of Rossmoor is developing a Wildlife Watch Program in coordination with the Rossmoor Homeowners Association, Rossmoor Neighborhood Watch, Orange County Animal Control, Department of Fish and Wildlife and community volunteers.

You may report wildlife sightings to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Orange County Animal Control Services presides over animal control in the Rossmoor Community and animal control is strictly under their jurisdiction. Animal Control will only respond to coyote sightings if the animal is injured or there is a threat to human life. To report such injuries or threats (i.e. stalking/attacks) call Animal Control at 714-935-6848. After hours you may call 714-935-7158. If you do not get a response Dial 9-1-1.

For more information visit the California Department of Fish and Wildlife Website.

Remember, the RCSD does not have jurisdiction over wildlife. The coyote log is kept for data collection purposes only in order to recognize trends and increase local community awareness. For an imminent threat or if you feel you or someone else is in danger, call Animal Control or DIAL 9-1-1 !
